LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., August 17, 1995 <br><br> Canon U.S.A., Inc. has 
introduced two new optional battery packs designed specifically for use 
with its new Elan II cameras.  The Battery Pack BP-50 is a dual power 
source which enables the camera to be operated with four AA-size 
alkaline or NiCd batteries.  <br><br>
	The Battery Pack BP-5B is a high-capacity battery pack designed to 
be clipped onto a belt and provides extended power to the camera through 
the use of four D-size alkaline or NiCd batteries.<br><br>
	
	The Battery pack BP-50 contains a removable battery spacer which 
enables users to insert either AA-size batteries or standard 2CR5 
batteries.  In addition to supplying power to the EOS Elan II, the unit 
also provides and on/off switch and an additional shutter release button 
for convenient and comfortable vertical shooting.<br><br>
	The high-capacity external Battery Pack BP-5B will last up to 8.5 
times longer than the standard 2CR5 battery which is the normal power 
source for the EOS Elan II.  The BP-5B must be used in conjunction with 
the Battery pack BP-50 to supply power to the camera.<br><br>
	The self-contained unit is ideal for astrophotography and 
extremely cold environments where internal camera power sources normally 
freeze or are rapidly depleted.  Its extended energy life makes it a 
perfect choice for outdoor photographers, hikers and extremely remote 
locations.<br><br>
	The Battery Pack BP-50 measures 6 x 3-2/5 x 2-3/5 inches and 
weighs 5-1/4 ounces.  The High Capacity External Battery Pack BP-5B 
measures
5-7/8 x 3-1/8 x 1-9/19 inches and weighs 20.3 ounces.<br><br>
