Dear Bob,
I am in the process of buying a tripod and head for photographic applications like portraits and landscapes. I may sparingly use larger lenses at a later stage for wildlife. I want to buy it right the first time, which I believe, will save me costly upgrades at a later stage. I have a Canon 50D body and a Canon 70-200 mm f/4 IS USM lens as of now. After some research I was inclined towards the Manfrotto 055 CX PRO 3 (Price:$400; Carbon Fiber; Unique center column, Decent ht; Wt:3.63 lbs, Max Load:17.6 lbs) Will it be stable with larger/heavier lenses? What is your opinion? Can you suggest another brand around the same price range? And for the ball head I have zeroed in on the Arca Swiss Monoball Z1. For the Canon 10-22mm can u suggest a suitable UV filter that will not vignette at the wide end?
Your suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Regards,
Tarun
