Hi Bob,
Many thanks for your informative site. I live in South Africa and there are no sites locally that cover Canon as you do. So much appreciated.
I have two questions which have probably been debated previously, but I would like your opinion.
Which lens offers the better image quality between the 100 - 400 L and the 400 F5.6 L?
If one offers a lesser image quality, can the photgraph be propped up by post processing to equal the better lens photo's, or will post processing of the better lens image merely push it further up the quality stakes and beyond that which can be achieved by the lesser quality photo? Please assume that all things remain equal.

I believe the 400/5.6L prime is the better lens. With large prints you'd probably see the difference, If you're printing at 8x10 or smaller, you might not notice a great deal of difference after optimizing the image for printing in each caqse.

As recommended, I have ordered the 400 mm prime.....and the wild bird seeds. I am really looking forward to playing with this lens.
