Is it getting time for you to begin speculating about the new Canon models?
How does the recession impact their timing? Will Canon use new entries to try and fill the sales gap or will they delay introduction until the consumer begins spending?
Some of the sites are speculating that a 60D and 7D are being worked on.
How much higher do the new Nikon entries raise the bar and do you think that Canon will pull ahead of Nikon?
I don't really like to speculate too much, but I suspect a 60D must be in the works and I presume it will be much like the 50D but with the addition of a video recording mode.
I'm not so sure about the mythical beast occupying a place between the 50/60D and the 5D MkII, which is what I presume the "7D" is supposed to be. There would be a price point at around $2000 where a new model could be placed, but I'm not really sure one is needed and I certainly don't know if one is planned. Right now the original 5D fills that slot.
As for competition with Nikon, each brand has it's own merits. I don't really see it as a race for the "best" camera.
