Camera Armor

I've been seeing this camera armor around a lot lately. My question is should I be picking this up for my 30d or is it just a bunch of hype and not needed.

Mostly a bunch of hype and not needed. I've been shooting with Canon EOS bodies since the late 1908s. I've carried them back and forth across the USA, overseas, in my car, on my bike, in backpacks and camera bags. I've use them indoors and outdoors including a lot of nature and wildlife photography. None of the bodies has ever suffered any damage from use.

I suppose if you make a habit of bouncing your camera off concrete then some sort of armor might help, but in normal use it's certainly not needed.

Thanks Bob, that's what I was thinking about it. By the way just how old are you? If you've been using your camera since the early 1908's you must be up there. LOL

I'm old, but not quite that old - and Canon would be surprised to hear of anyone using an EOS body in 1908.

Make it 1980s and it sounds a bit better!

I would be leary of camera armour or any similar products for other devices.A skin over the body sounds good but fine grit can still penetrate. Over time grit and user handling can result in some surface scratches forming.
