For future sales, what size image should I store my photos?
« on: February 27, 2010, 01:37:20 PM »

I've recently retired and never sold any pictures. I gave them away including a lot of wedding shots. I use a Canon 40D and a few extra buck a month would be nice and might pay for my gas anyway.  If I had a picture that I thought was marketable, what quality level should I store it at?  The 40D allows several resolution formats including RAW plus a JPEG file. Obviously you have to shoot it at the same setting.

While I'm at it, what software is available for fee or cheap that puts the copyright symbol and your name on the photo?

Thanks!

RAW images are the highest quality and give you the most options for corrections. If you have space, it's always best to shoot and keep the RAW file.

I don't think you have a choice for RAW, but if you shoot JPEG, keep it to the biggest size with the least amount of compression.  You can always make it smaller on the computer.  As far as watermarking, What software do you use to manage your photos?  What image processing software do you have now?
