Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but I will anyway. I have Photoshop CS4 installed on my laptop. I have set it as the default software to open JPEGS. The only problem is that I seem to have the 32 bit and the 64 bit versions installed. If I try to open a JPEG file sometimes Windows attempts to fire up the 64 bit version and Photoshop crashes. If I attempt to open a JPEG from within explorer and the 32 bit version of Photoshop is running all is well. Sometimes Windows will fire up the 32 bit version and again all is well. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the 64 bit version of Photoshop or at least to stop it running?
Thanks for the link Bob. The solution turned out to be even easier. By upping the amount of RAM available to Photoshop (Edit/Preferences/Performance/) to the recommended amount solved the problem. Now I can use the 64 bit version with no problems. Why Adobe default to a lower amount of RAM when the menu item actually recommends the correct amount is beyond me but then I am a simple photographer and not a software developer. Ken Lindup
