If it's just for "protection" of the lens then all you need is a quality (multicoated) UV filter. A Skylight 1A is slighly warming. You can use one, but with a digital camera you really don't need one. Closeup filters care good if you use the right (2-element such as the Canon 250D and 500D) filter on the right (short telephoto) lens.
