Title: Rattling noise in 40D!
Post by: deeyas on May 30, 2008, 11:30:58 PM
Just bought a 40D with the on-going discounts  :). I noticed a faint rattle when I shook/tilted the camera sideways (going from landscape to portrait). I looked on a few forums online and people who have noticed this said that it was either the flash hinges making the noise or the  "orientation sensor". The 40D user manual (page 175) says, "The camera makes a noise when it is shaken. The built-in flash's pop-up mechanism shakes slightly."
Has anyone else noticed this?

It's perfectly normal. Mine does that too. I believe it's the orientation sensor and all EOS cameras have one.
