If it does, check the batteries in the E1 booster are good, and if they are it suggests a problem with the E1 or the connections between the E1 and the body. I think the GR-E1 and GR-E2 are interchangable and the GR-E2 is the grip for the EOS-1v, which is still in production. I'd give them a call on 1-800-828-4040 and see what they say. There's a good chance they'll be able to sell you one or the other. I ended up buying a second used EOS 1n body for the GR-E1 grip, as together they were not much more than the new grip alone.

I don't know if that info is accurate (seems cheap!), but the part numbers may be useful.
