Title: How to take photos in snow scenes? Post by: mjf0048 on January 09, 2009, 08:59:06 AM Hey Bob,
What settings do you use to take photos of snow scenes like mountains, peaks, ranges, and valleys such places like antartica with the Canon 1d Mark III? Do you use Av shoot in AF or use Av shoot in manual? Marc Title: Re: How to take photos in snow scenes? Post by: Bob Atkins on January 09, 2009, 11:01:11 AM You use whatever works!
If the contrast is low ("all white") you might have to resort to the use of manual focus, but I'd expect AF to work pretty well in all but the most extreme conditions of low contrast. Exposure in Av mode should be fine, but I'd keep an eye on the histograms. In "All white" conditions you might get some underexposure because in general the camera will exposure for a mid-grey subject tome rather than white. It's possible that ay times you may need some +ve exposure compensation in order to optimize exposure. Title: Re: How to take photos in snow scenes? I found that setting the white balance will work to by custom setting the white balance. Less work to do in photoshop later. Marc |
