Title: Processing digital infrared photos Post by: jamisan on January 13, 2009, 10:59:12 AM Is there a really good cheap image edit software other than Photoshop for this. I really can't affod several hundred $$ for software
Although I did find Photoshop Elements 5.0 for a very resonable amount. Would this work ok? Title: Re: Processing digital infrared photos Post by: Bob Atkins on January 13, 2009, 11:17:32 AM You might want to take a look at Paint Shop Pro (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000VJTL1Y/bobatkinsphotogr). It's what I use (I have version 9) for most of my image editing.
Photoshop Elements isn't bad but the latest version is Photoshop Elements 7 (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001DMBWXS/bobatkinsphotogr) so unless you're getting version 5 almost for free, you might as well go for version 7. I think either one gives most photographers all the tools they will need for image editing. You can pay $600 for full Photoshop, but my guess is that most photographers don't use more than 20% of the features it offers Title: Re: Processing digital infrared photos Post by: jamisan on January 18, 2009, 07:31:56 AM Will Corel-Photo Paint 12 will work as well. I can get a copy of Corel Graphics Suite 12 for free. ;D.
Title: Re: Processing digital infrared photos Post by: Bob Atkins on January 18, 2009, 01:28:40 PM I've never used Paint, but if you can get it for free it can't hurt to try it. I'd assume it has all the basic image editing functions and will allow you to work on color, contrast etc.
