Title: New scratch-resistant filters?
Post by: deemery on February 18, 2009, 07:37:52 AM
This month's issue of "Outdoor Photography" has ads in it from most of the filter makers for new scratch-resistant filters., e.g. Hoya HD, Tiffin HT, etc.  Any thoughts (good or bad) on these?  In particular, is it worth buying one of these to replace my current lens protector?

Sounds like another marketing gimmick. I've never actually scratched any of my filters. I certainly wouldn't replace anything I had. When buying a new filter I'd consider the cost and evaluate whether it was worth a premium for something sold as "scratch resistant"
