Title: Canon's lenses.
Post by: whizkid on May 14, 2009, 08:02:35 AM
Several of Canon's lenses are being listed by reputable vendors as back-ordered. In the many years I 've shot with Canon I have not seen lens shortages to this degree.  Some of the lenses on back-order are available through other sources but at scalper prices. Ouch!

Yes, this has been going on for a while new. Some prime lenses (35/2, 85/1.8) seems to be always "back ordered". There are differeing views as to why this is but it's probably related to worldwide economic problems with Canon perhaps producing fewer lenses and vendors not wanting too much unsold stock on their shelves. It looks like in some cases demand is stronger than they expected.
