Title: 50d top lcd chipped
Post by: djnomad on May 17, 2009, 01:38:22 AM
Hi there bob and anyone else that may be reading this.
I wonder if anyone else has ever chipped/cracked the top display lcd on their 40d/50d body?
I believe it's the lcd cover as the display is working just fine.

has anyone had any experience in getting this part replaced and how costly it would be?
I recently chipped mine and it's just an annoying thing to see as I use the top display quite often.

Thanks in advance!

I think you can get a new cover from Canon. As I understand it the cover on both the top and rear LCDs are just held on using double sided sticky tape. Getting the old one off is more difficult than putting the new one on from what I've read. The cover is cheap (a few dollars). Getting Canon to do the work is probably the expensive route but I'm sure they will do it for you.
