Title: Close up setting Rebel XS

Ok, am I missing something. I cannot tell any difference in images shot in the closeup setting or P mode at the same focal length.

I'm not surprised! The manual has a list of the modes which are available in various settings. All the closeup mode does is select the AF mode, exposure mode, drive mode and exposure algorithm that Canon think might be best for closeup work. It's certainly possible to duplicate all of those in "P" mode.

It's possible that closeup mode might tend to select smaller apertures to give you a little more DOF, but you can do that on "P" mode too.
