All the closeup mode does is select the AF mode, exposure mode, drive mode and exposure algorithm that Canon think might be best for closeup work. It's certainly possible to duplicate all of those in "P" mode.
It's possible that closeup mode might tend to select smaller apertures to give you a little more DOF, but you can do that on "P" mode too. |
