Title: Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM
Post by: dem74 on October 16, 2009, 02:29:38 PM
Ok, so I still haven't pulled the trigger on my combo choice of the EF 70-200mm f/4L USM & EF 400mm f/5.6L USM together...

My question is, has anybody had experience with the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM & the Extender EF 2x II?

Some, as I have both.

My lens is the "IS version and I have an EF 1.4X II extender as well as the EF 2X II.

I've been quite content with the image results I've gotten using Canon's 2x converter on a EF 70-200. I'm not a pixel peeper and would quess for the truly finicky this is flawed thinking but I didn't have a desire for a single focal lenth 400 mm lens. I bought the 70-200 for indoor open area use and will sometimes add the 1.4x  converter if lighting permits. Outdoors, I mostly prefer my EF 70-300 for it's lighter weight and size but will occassionly use the 2x and 70-200 combo. I haven't printed larger than 8 x 10 as I have no personal desire for larger prints so cannot speak to that. I've used the combo on both a 40D (10mp) and 5DMk2 (21mp) but have not as yet on a recently purchased 7D (18 mp).
