Have you had experience with the video capabilities of the 5d MII and 7d? If yes, can you describe lens used, ISO, etc. Importantly what software did you use to produce/edit the video? What software would you recommend for someone new to video? If that is too simple for you, you can upgrade to FinalCutExpress.

For SD video I've used Windows Movie Maker. I don't know if it does HD and if so at what version that was added. I've also used Corel Video Studio 12, though again for SD video. It does have HD capability and it's not expensive, but I can't really say how good it is for HD. Seems fine for SD. HD is just a lot more work for the CPU and disk system. I've seen some positive reviews of Adobe Premiere Elements 8, though I've also seen a lot of user complaints that it's unstable. Again, not expensive.
