Title: EOS 5D Issue
Post by: kbozeman on April 28, 2010, 10:51:16 PM
I was wondering if anyone has had this problem with their 5D I.  My autofocus on my camera has stopped working and I have to take pictures in manual mode.  Not only do I have to do it in manual, but I cannot take one picture right after another.  I have to wait several seconds or even a couple of minutes before it will let me trip the shutter again.  Does this just sound like a normal autofocus problem or is there an even larger issue?  If it is just an autofocus problem, how much does Canon usually charge to repair a problem like this?

Ask them to quote a repair price. If too high, try other independent repair shops.

If you are in the US, you can go here:

and get an online quote.  Canon service is very good and *fast*.

Probably not a fix but did you try cleaning the contacts of the lens and camera as well as try another lens?
A quote from Canon can be expected to be pricier for a 5D. Seems anything with a full frame sensor commands a stiff premium (repair or purchase).
