Title: mystery Canon object...
Post by: anand on August 17, 2010, 08:15:36 AM
I've got a range of EOS cameras, from film 5s to a 5D Mk I, 50D and 7D.

During a recent clearout I came across the odd piece of equipment shown in the shot.  Its obviously Canon, brand new and has one 3.5mm jack - but I have no memory of this object!

The code on the packaging (QX11-1199) doesn't register on Google, and it doesn't seem to have any obvious visible outputs or sensors.  Its fairly light, doesn't rattle and looks like it should dock into something.

It may not be camera related, but I can't think where else its come from, as I don't own other Canon equipment...  I'm scratching my head, completely puzzled.

Any ideas?  I'm hoping someone just recognises it.

I don't recognize it. However, as you say, Canon make all sorts of industrial, scientific and office equipment, so it could easily be a part for a copier or fax machine.

Got it - its a FAU - film adapter unit for a Canon scanner, which I'd not noticed before.
