Title: lightning Post by: jamisan on September 23, 2010, 04:53:23 PM Just curoius, would it be possible to burn out an image sensor taking pics of lightning. My last lightning shoot, I had the shutter open for a 10 sec exposure,100 ISO, night time, and had a, saw the lightning and heard the thunder at the same time. No harm to my camera that I can tell, but was just wondering.

Now if you focused the sun onto the sensor for long enough using a big enough and fast enough lens you might be able to do some damage. However if the lightning hits you, all bets are off.
