Title: Child photography and Macro?? which camera to buy?? HELP!
Post by: Crazy zou on October 01, 2010, 02:42:41 PM
hi there,   I have the Rebel XTi and would like to buy a new camera...I do child photography and just started on Macro. I use a 28-135mm and the  EF 100mm f2.8 IS USM and as you know children move quickly and it is really difficult to take good photos while they are moving...I love the 28-135mm...coz I can take wide and telephoto some how....ofcourse the built-in flash is not that good at all...

when i herad about the video option in the new cameras I was really excited, but now I believe I really don't need it..I prefer having a seperate one. (which I dunno which yet ?? hehe ) and what about weight...I would prefer if it was not that heavy!!

So what do you suggest?

I'm not really sure why the XTi isn't OK for what you are doing, but if you want to upgrade you have to decide what you want in the new camera.

The Canon Digital Rebel T2i (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0035FZJI0/bobatkinsphotogr) would be your lowest cost option, It gives you HD video, a higher resolution sensor and a number of other upgrade features.

The Canon EOS 60D (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0040JHVCC/bobatkinsphotogr) gives you a tilt and swivel LCD screen, slightly better autofocus, a faster frame rate, a larger viewfinder and an extra rear control dial to make using the camera slightly easier (and quicker).

The Canon EOS 7D (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B002NEGTTW/bobatkinsphotogr) gives you just about everything you could want. High speed operation (8 frames/sec), better autofocus, HD video, electronic level indicators etc.

If you wanted the ultimate in image quality then a full frame camera like the Canon EOS 5D MkII (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001G5ZTLS/bobatkinsphotogr) is probably what you'd want to look at.
