Title: thinking of replacing my canon 28-135....
Post by: jamisan on November 17, 2010, 11:27:30 AM
....with either the canon 15-85 or the canon 18-135. I need more wide angle and tho I like the 135 reach I could live without it in favor of the 15-85 as I have the canon 70-300. Any advice would be appreciated

Of the two I'd go for the Canon EF-S 15-85/3.5-5.6IS USM (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B002NEGTTM/bobatkinsphotogr). It's quite a bit wider, plus it's overall a better lens. You already have 70 and up covered, so you really don't need to go to 135.

I guess another alternative would be to keep the Canon EF 28-135/3.5-5.6 IS USM (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006I53S/bobatkinsphotogr) and add the EF-S 10-22/3.5-4.5 USM (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002Y5WXE/bobatkinsphotogr) to your kit. If you want dramatic wideangle shots, that would be the way to go. 15mm is wide on APS-C, but not superwide.
