Title: Any good eclipse experiences?

Any good eclipse experiences?

I went to a park here in the heights in Albuquerque and had a great view all the way to the horizon. I was using my Sigma 150-500 with a solar filter (you should get some credit Bob!) and got good shots with sunspots and everything. There was someone with an 8-10 inch scope there, but he did not have a camera, so he asked for my shots!

My only problem was that I had the exposure set to manual, but forgot to change the ISO from auto, so the "exposure" kept changing. (I did not catch it til the end, Doh!) but it did not affect that much.

But the most interesting shots were right at sunset when I dared to take the filter off and got the eclipse right on the horizon. Still had to dial in -2 stops of compensation.

Nothing here this time. The eclipse occurred after sunset here on the east coast :-)

I think we "win" next time - November 3rd 2013 when the East coast will see a partial eclipsed sun at sunrise, but the coverage will be small. It is a total eclipse if viewed from the mid-atlantic and parts of central Africa, though not from anywhere in North America.

The next good eclipse from North America will be on August 21st 2017. It will be total in some places such as:

Salem, Oregon, U.S.A.
Casper, Wyoming, U.S.A.
Grand Island, Nebraska, U.S.A.
Jefferson City, Missouri, U.S.A.
Clarksville, Tennessee, U.S.A.
Anderson, South Carolina, U.S.A.
