What kind of laptop do you have?
I doubt that a $400 monitor would be much better. It might be better to invest in a calibration tool, or a better laptop.

You might want to look at the ViewSonic VX2240w 22-inch. Also the Acer AL2216Wbd 22-inch gets very good reviews. Whether the absolute quality will be better than your laptop is hard to say (depends on your laptop), but certainly the larger screen will be an advantage and it's quite possible the quality will be higher since there are less design constaints on a stand alone monitor than a monitor designed for lower cost and power consumption in a laptop.

I have Dell inspiron 630m (4 or 5 years old) and only like 13 1/2". when my pics are screen size the resolution is pretty bad.
I wanna be able to enlarge my pics to a much bigger screen and really get a closer look. I guess i could go to 19" have heard there are some really good cheap ones of them but would prefer the 22" or above

Also thinking about getting a Mac (will bro have to be a mac book as thats all i can afford) plus was just told be a friend that he could get me $300 off one for me.
I have heard macs are good for photos...
what do u guys think? a new LCD monitor or a mac, as my laptop is pretty dated a mac may kill two bird with one stone, however my screen will still be small
