SDHC Card Speeds?
« on: October 19, 2008, 08:02:52 PM »

Hey guys,

I'm planning on buying an 8GB Sandisk SDHC card for my Rebel XSi soon and was wondering:

If I'm shooting in RAW and say want to take a few pictures in succession (say 3.5fps), is it worth paying the extra money for an Extreme III 30MB/s card? Can the camera even write to the card that fast? Would the Extreme III 20MB/s edition be enough?

Thanks!

I think the XSi tops out at around 10MB/s even with the fastest cards, so I doubt you'd see a significant difference between a 20MB/s and 30MB/s card.

Of course if you get a faster camera in the future the faster card might make more difference.

I'd get the faster card if the price difference was small, but I wouldn't pay a big premium for it.
