Question regaring polarizing filter
« on: May 26, 2008, 10:58:32 PM »

I am looking to get a polarizing filter (72mm) for my EF28-135 IS lens. I came across Bob's recommendation : http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/tutorials/polarizers.html

Can anyone tell me if the Tiffen filter recommended in the above link is comparable to the Hoya Super multi-coated filters (not the pro series)?

Also, does anyone know if the Tiffen filter mentioned above has threads to attach a lens hood? (the Hoya SMC doesn't)

My article on polarizing filters probably needs to be updated. I do still use a Tiffen CP myself - and it works well. However Hoya now have a line of multicoated polarizing filters which may be better. I don't think the Tiffen filters are multicoated, but I can confirm that they have front threads (or at least mine does).

Hoya 72mm HMC Circular Polarizer ~ $60
