The battery charger that comes with the 450D/ XSI can this be used overseas without first pluggjng into a converter box and then into the wall outlet; in other words, plug the charger into a 220V with the proper plug for european outlets without going thru a converter box from 110 to 220v?

As far as I know, yes. I've used my 40D battery charger in the UK (240v) with no problems.

I bought my 40D from the US. I am using the batt charger here in Dubai with adapter (British type of plug and socket) and used it in Turkey (European two prongs plug and socket). Make sure you have the necessary adapter.
