I'm new to the forum and apologize if I am in the wrong place, or covering old ground.
I shoot RAW with a 1Ds III & 40D and process with Aperture 2 and Lightroom & PS CS3.
I've used DPP a bit and would like to utilize its lens correction features on a more regular basis but every time I need to straighten a horizon or doorway I have to leave the program which makes it virtually unusable.
I keep hoping that I'm missing something incredibly obvious, is it really possible that canon built a program that can fix chromatic aberration but can't level a horizon?

Yes, it's very possible.
I guess Canon think of DPP as an image processing engine rather than an image editor. Maybe we can hope they will add a few more simple, but useful, features like horizon leveling in the next major upgrade (v.4.x.x). I'd also like to see them make MANUAL correction of distortion and CA possible for ALL lenses, not just the ones in their database. Surely that couldn't be too hard?

If you use CS3, Ken Rockwell ( www.kenrockwell.com) as part of his lens reviews posts the correction factors to use to correct for lens distortion. |

Thank You both for the prompt replies.
I do understand the "front end to photoshop" reasoning, but they did include an "EDIT" window with controls for brightness, "picture styles" contrast, color, saturation, sharpness, and some manipulation of curves, and "trimming"
It feels more like a monumental oversight of a simple and often used adjustment.
