Lens Advice
« on: June 06, 2012, 05:42:15 AM »

I'm currently using the Canon 400mm F5.6L lens for wildlife photography and am getting some  good results.  I now have the opportunity to buy a Canon 400mm F4.0 DO lens at a reasonable price and am considering an upgrade.  I shoot hand held much of the time so the faster lens and the addition of image stabilization seems like it would be worthwhile. I also use the Canon 1.4X extender which will not auto focus on my current lens.  The 500mm F4L lens is just too large and heavy for what I want to do and the new 200-400mm F4 with integrated 1.4X extender  will be out of my price range.

Does this seem like a reasonable upgrade?

The luminous landscape really likes the DO lens:
