Sharp lenses for the future
« on: September 16, 2008, 11:16:03 AM »

I've thought about the optical shortfalls as sensors get higher resolutions. I’ve got a 70-200 f4L that is reasonably sharp on my 5D, however both my 17-40 f4L and 24-105 f4L are softer.

So really a bigger sensor will not produce more detail unless the optics are up for the job. And this will only get more and more relevant because sensors will continue to get higher resolutions.

I was hoping you would be able to help me to find the sharpest lenses. Probably primes? And maybe it’d be a good idea to publish on the website too? I’ve seen lensplay, but it doesn’t specify which are the sharpest, only which are the best.

Kind regards,
Marius
