Actually, I am using the LCD screen more often than before. ( Live view ) I have always preferred to look through the viewfinder and I also like manual focusing. But, why not do things a bit different if it can enhance photography?
I really like the tilt-swivel screen. If I should upgrade anytime I think that would be the main reason.
Video....aahh, well, I am not in to video...not yet. I guess I will be some time in the future. Its nice to know the option is there.
The joystick is still gone and the top plate does not have the buttons from the 7D/50D. I am not sure if I would like to use the screen to change settings. It seems like a step backwards. It is probably nice if you are used to compacts. The top plate buttons let you change settings fast, but I guess you will get used to doing it different though I am not sure if I like it.
I'm not big into touch screen controls for cameras, but I can't deny that the 70D touch screen is pretty convenient and probably a faster way of changing settings than pushing buttons and turning dials!
I've been using a 70d for about a month for bird photography from my car window with a 600/1/4x giving an effective focal length of about 1300mm. I mention all that because my findings may not be applicable to whatever you do: the long lens has serious technique issues and working from in a vehicle has severe ergonomic issues - this is nothing like street photography!
For what it's worth: the articulated LCD is worth the money, all by itself, for me to be able to put the camera into positions where it is impossible for me to get near the viewfinder and it's real nice that it folds back into the body to protect the screen surface; the touch screen is ideal for that kind of use as it puts everything I need to see and touch in front of me, no matter where the back of the camera is. The increased megapixel count is not significant over the 7d that was replaced. I still use exposure metering and AF the same as before: spot metering and selected single element AF in either AV or Manual mode.
One thing I don't like and haven't been able to figure out how to turn off is the full-time AF in LiveView. AF is constantly seeking and changing focus as I'm trying to follow a subject or just slightly re-framing an image - this wastes lots of time as the image goes all blurry and has trouble finding my subject and finding focus again. I'll have to look again to see where the shut-off is.
