5D Mk II JPEG - Very Digital Feel/Look?
« on: January 12, 2009, 01:24:29 AM »

Hi Bob

I know that you are now playing with a 5D mk II as I learned from other threads. I read from other reviews that the JPEG files out of the camera have very digital look or feel according to "aggressive sharpening"?

Did you notice the same?

Cheers

Not really, but I normally shoot RAW and adjust the images in DPP.

If JPEGs look oversharpened all you have to do is reduce the shapening, which can be done quite easilly via the cameras menu system. Canon's engineers have decided what they think looks best in terms of sharpness, saturation and contrast, but if the user disagrees it's a simple matter to change any (or all) of them.

All of the "picture styles" (including the default "standard" style) can be customized by the user.
