Want to Buy- 70-200mm
« on: March 27, 2009, 09:29:37 AM »

New to this forum.  Not sure if this is the place to post, but I'm looking to buy a Canon 70-200m f/2.8 lens.  Scratches and dents are okay as long as it works fine...  I'm a new photographer in the Atlanta area and I'm trying to add to my equipment without going over my budget.

Any other ideas where to find one cheap other than ebay and craigslist?

Thanks!

I don't know about lenses, but Adorama sells "refurbished" equipment (as shown on Bob's Home page)

You might try some local camera stores, they often have some used equipment for sale.

You can try Adorama and B&H (links below), but I don't think it's likely they will have one.

There's also KEH (who I think are in Atlanta).

The problem is that it's a very popular lens, so if there is a used one for sale anywhere it will sell pretty fast. It also holds its value well, so you may not end up saving much and buying a new one (with warranty) might be a better bet.

If all else fails, you could look at the EF 70-200/4L, it's $400 or more cheaper and very sharp.

I've looked around for the price of used 70-200 f/2.8L and the price difference compared to a new one is not much, so i suggest you get a new one unless you can find a really good bargain.
