I accidentally forcefully over-turned the lens barrel (rotating)
« on: August 11, 2009, 12:31:35 PM »

hi everyone... I accidentally did that to 55-250mm IS lens, while detaching the lens hood, I "unawaredly" overturned it with more-than-necessary force, I heard a little sound (not aware of whether it's from the hood or inside the lens..), is the rotation-stopping-mechanism gonna be OK? because it's a cheap lens and I am worried about its build quality, although the focusing still seems ok, I'm really worried about the internals, could I have cracked the housing that holds the glasses? or something else crucial Shocked arghh I don't know if I am over-reacting, I am just worried Sad any ideas? thanks in advance for any input Sad

Unless you're having trouble with focusing or zooming, I wouldn't worry. It's possible you could damage the lens by forcing the zoom or focus rings past their normal limits, but if it's still perfoming as before then you probably didn't break anything
