Memory Card
« on: October 04, 2009, 07:28:39 PM »

I recently purchased a Canon 50d to replace my Rebel XT and need to purchase a better memory card.  It seems that most articles that I read recommend a going with a UDMA card of at least 8 gb but that is out of my price range right now.  I primarily shoot landscape, nature and occasionally birds.

If anyone out there has a recommendation it would certainly be appreciated.

Ready to get out and capture a great shot.

Well, you can get a PNY Optima Pro UDMA 8 GB 266x CompactFlash Memory Card from amazon for $59.99 - and it comes with free shipping. That's a pretty good price. PNY are well known in the computer memory world

If you want something cheaper you can drop to 4GB or go with a non-UDMA card. You may not need high capacity or the very highest speed.

Kingston Elite Pro 8 GB 133x CompactFlash - $25

SanDisk 1 8GB Extreme III CF - $45

I've been quite happy with both Kingston and Sandisk CF cards.

I can second Bob's comments about Kingston.  I got 2 kingston 4GB class 4 SDHC cards for only $22 (free shipping from buy.com at that time), and when I received them, I was surprised to see they were made in Japan.
