Raw files and ISO THE QUESTION NO ONE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO ANSWER

I have a question about raw files and iso ,I shoot mostly indoor sports in bad lighting .
what is the better choice. Camera speed at 320 f2.2 with a iso of 800 shotting raw or
still keeping my camera speed at 320 f2.2 with my Expo.comp at -1.5  with a iso of 400 .again in raw format
Am I fooling the camera and by reducing the noise or only fooling myself into beliveing that my pictures look better shoot in raw at Expo -1.5
This is a question about noise only.keeping it to a minimum

Basically you are shooting at an ISO of 1000.

I think you would be better off pushing it from 800.

Why not try it both ways and see which works better for you.  If you are shooting sports in bad light a little noise won't hurt.

You did not tell us what camera you have.  I get pretty good results using Ken's technique pushing my Canon XS from 800 to 3200 (I set a -2 stop compensation at ISO 800.)

I use a canon 50d ,I have owned the 20d and the 40d in the past.stopped taking pictures for 2 years because
of a back injury now i am back into it full time .Still I guess hoping for better results .The link is from photos i took in Kingston ontario in July 2009 .at a taekwondo tournament ,I used my old 35mm f2.0 because i was so close to the action.
I know my pics are a little better than most but i still feel i am missing something.
oh just to let you know the 50d center focus point is much better than the 20d or 40d.
