Camera for starters?
« on: September 24, 2010, 01:35:50 PM »

I'm interested in pursuing photography as a hobby, but i'm not really sure which DSLR to purchase. I was hoping that someone could guide me.
(I'm a noob, i don't really know too much)
I'd be grateful if anyone could help me out.

Thanks.

The Canon XS kit should be fine.  It comes with everythng you need:  The camera, a pretty good lens and a small card.  Your first purchase should be a larger card.

If you want to shoot movies with it, there are other options.

What do you want a DSLR to provide that a point and shoot can't?

What's your price range for a camera plus a starter lens?

You can start out with the most basic body and lens if you want to save money or you can pay a little more and get a little more.

Most basic and cheapest - EOS XS w/18-55 - $489

Better and costs a little more - EOS T1i w/18-55 - $689

Best beginner camera - EOS T2i w/18-55 - $899
