tragic disaster in Japan and Canon
« on: March 15, 2011, 08:29:16 AM »

The recent series of mishaps in Japan is very tragic and my thoughts and prayers go to the people there.  I was also amazed about how strong and orderly they are after suffering such an event.

Among the tragedies, one piece of good news is that Canon is overall unaffected and only suffered limited amount of injuries and damages.  See http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-20042075-93.html

However, both Canon and Nikon have closed their factories, including a Canon factory that makes lenses.  http://www.amateurphotographer.co.uk/news/nikon_shuts_down_japan_quake_dslr_factory_canon_update_1140am_news_306253.html?aff=rss
