EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 III USM
Canon's commitment to continually improving existing lens designs becomes evident with the introduction of the
EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 III USM zoom lens. Designed as a "standard" zoom lens with the Canon EOS Elan II as well
as other EOS System cameras, it will replace the current EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 II USM lens at the same price point.
The new generation lens will retain the same basic specifications and optical system consisting of lead-free optical glass
as its predecessor. The difference is in the exterior design of the lens. Modeled after the popular EF 35-80mm f/4-5.6 III, the
lens will feature a focusing ring with more knurling for easier manual focusing. It will also retain the same flat black-finish
and comfortable "feel" as the 35-80mm lens.
The focal length range of the lens is ideal for a variety of shooting situations including portraits, landscapes and
group shots. Focusing as close as 15-inches in its telephoto mode also allows for tight close-ups. A detachable, reversible
lens hood featuring a three-prong bayonet mount is optional
The EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 III USM lens weighs 7.2 ounces and measures 3-inches in length.
