The major food
source for prairie dogs are the grasses growing in their "towns". They change
their feeding habits as the vegetation changes. When grasses are depleted, they
may switch to other plants, allowing the grasses to regrow. Prairie dogs will
also eat small insects - they are not strict vegetarians!
