Canon have announced their "instant rebates" for the fall (2008). The rebates will run from October 19th 2008 to January 17th 2009. There's nothing to mail in. The rebates amount will be deducted by the vendor from their normal selling price.
There are no rebates on camera bodies, but if you're looking for a bargain, the Canon EOS 40D is now selling for $919 (with free shipping) at Amazon. That's around a $450-$475 saving over an EOS 50D, enough to buy a pretty nice lens.
