I've made a list of books that I think might interest readers of this website and which might also make good holiday gifts (for yourself or another photographer).
In addition to these, here are a few essential books that don't fit the other categories:
|
Photographer's Market 2008 If you want sell your work this is THE book to own. There are thousands (over 2000) of photo buyers listed, from stock agencies to magazines to greeting card companies to record companies. Also tips on selling your work
On Photography - Susan Sontag Thought provoking essays on the history, meaning and importance of photography in the 19th and 20th Century. Not light reading, but well worth the effort.
Lenswork Maybe the best PHOTOGRAPHY magazine around. They don't do equipment reviews, they don't talk about equipment, they don't even deal with color images. Just the best B&W images, interviews with photographers and philosophical musing on photography as an artform. Highly recommended. |

On Being a Photographer: A Practical Guide by David Hurn and Bill Jay Get this book if you want comments by a photographer on being a photographer. Great reading, great writing. Highly recommended |
